  • Get valid Indian insurance before taking it on road.
  • PUC certificate is mandatory even for imported vehicles.

⚠️ Problems You Might Face

  • Customs clearance complexity
  • Spare part availability
  • High service cost

📌 Real Case: Imported Kawasaki Ninja from Dubai – Mumbai RTO

Owner: Sameer Khan, a software engineer from Andheri (Mumbai)

Bike: Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R (imported from Dubai, 2024 model)

Sameer brought the bike via Dubai cargo with all original documents. It cost him ₹7.5 lakh there. But by the time he got it registered at MH02 RTO (Andheri), the total cost including taxes, clearance, registration, insurance, and homologation went up to ₹13.2 lakh.

Challenges:

  • Delayed customs clearance due to emission test confusion
  • Had to submit an affidavit to prove personal use
  • Spare parts had to be ordered from UAE directly

His Advice: “Import only if you're truly passionate. The cost, time, and RTO headache is not for casual buyers.”
