Applying for a Learning Licence (LL) is the first step to legally drive in India. Whether you are 16 or 60, if you wish to drive a vehicle, a valid learner’s licence is a must. Here's a complete list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help you understand the process in 2025.

❓ What is a Learning Licence?

A Learning Licence is a temporary permit issued by the RTO that allows you to practice driving before applying for a permanent driving licence. It is valid for 6 months.

📅 What is the validity of a Learning Licence?

In most states, the Learning Licence is valid for 6 months (180 days). You must apply for a permanent licence after 30 days but before expiry.

  1. Visit https://parivahan.gov.in
  2. Select your state
  3. Click on “Apply for Learner Licence”
